Hi there! I just wanted to open this one by saying hello to all my new followers and introduce myself a little more. I got a daily deviation close to a month ago and since then I have gained over 200 new followers. Given I only had 69 followers before that point, thats a big change for me! So, hi! My name is Annalee. I'm an artist living in Queensland, Australia. I've been interested in arts and crafts for a long time, and following a health shake up I've decided to try to turn my artisan crafting into my profession. This is a very new journey for me. I'm currently too unwell to actually work consistently, so, I'm just doing what I can, here and there. Making things, designing products, working on my photography, that sort of thing. When I am well enough to actually work, I'll try opening a store. Its a bit exciting, but, for now I'm really just making things.
You're all new to me, and you've arrived very quickly. If you're reading this, I'd appreciate if you could comment and perhaps introduce yourselves as well, it would be great to know who sees these things. <3
That said, lets get on with the featuring. I highlight five different works by five different artists, and I like to do a little write-up of my impressions of each piece. This week, I'd like to focus on one of the mediums that I have a weakness for, wire-wrapped jewelry.
This is a charming piece, that has been skillfully achieved. It hasn't been submitted to any artisan crafts groups yet, so, I'd love to bring this piece of pretty to the attention of more people who might be interested in it. This piece has been made with a combination of sterling silver wire and fine silver wire. Incorporated throughout are quartz and aquamarine gemstones and sterling silver beads. The focal stone is a piece of blue topaz. Its a really lovely piece.
This large piece really makes a statement! Its big and its bold. That large piece of red jasper would stand out all on its own, but, its presence is magnified by the chunky design of the rest of the necklace. 'Chunky' isn't a word that I commonly associate with wire-wrapped jewelry, but, it fits here. The piece is a little off balance, with each side not being symmetrical, but, it works to emphasize that bold and interesting look. This piece has been achieved using recycled copper wire, that gorgeous red jasper stone, and natural onyx stones. Good stuff.
This piece is a real show-stopper. Colour me impressed, because, oh my gosh, its just a lovely piece of work. I'm not sure just how accurate calling it wire wrapped is, though, certainly the embellishments above the face (the hair?) look wire-wrapped to my eye and I'm counting it - though, the artist description indicates this may have been achieved through carving. Again, this is a piece that hasn't been added to any groups, and it deserves some wider attention. I love the way this piece looks. I'm blown away. I'm just going to quote the artist here, because, their writing does it some good justice:
"This piece contains many hours of meticulous carving to give the variations in textures that give her such a dynamic appearance. The pendant is gently antiqued to produce the patina contrast to the highly polished silver decoration."
Gorgeous!
Lets take this feature back to a simpler place. This piece is another that hasn't been featured in any groups. The artist description simply states 'copper wire, agate'. I am really drawn to the earthy/warm tones that copper wire can achieve. I also quite like the photography/styling of this shot. The addition of the branch and pine cones help to emphasize that warm earthyness. I do have a fondness for well styled artisan craft photography, and this one is really ticking my boxes.
Last, but not least for this week, I thought it would be excellent to highlight this piece. The piece itself is both simple, and bold. That scorpion design is a real stunner. I also really appreciate how the artist has given us an insight into their design process by showing it to us in various stages of the development, with the concept sketches. This has been achieved using 935 silver, which looks to my eye as thought it has been oxidized in some way to darken the piece. Its wonderful.
That wraps it up for this week. Please, let me know your thoughts. Also since so many of you are new, I'd love it if you introduced yourselves a little.
Have a great day!

Artisan Craft Photography
I'm just going to share this piece on photography for Artisan Crafts - I think photography is one of the most important aspects of work as an artisan crafter if you intend to display your work over the internet. With no ability for your audience to physically look at the thing, pick ti up, and see it in all of its 3D glory you need to make sure that the photos you are taking are displaying your work in the best way possible.
Daily Deviation!
The other day TearsofTurquoise (https://www.deviantart.com/tearsofturquoise) suggested me for a daily deviation and pinkythepink (https://www.deviantart.com/pinkythepink) chose to feature my work. I just wanted to make a little post thanking both of these people for this daily deviation. The entry that received the nomination is the piece that I am personally proudest of: My calla lily and orchid beaded cascade bouquet. A lot of work went into this beauty. As is true of all of my beaded bouquets it is made with tiny size 11/0 seed beads that are strung onto wire and then shaped into flowers and greenery and arranged to form a bouquet.
This is actually my second daily deviation, six months ago this piece, another bouquet, rece
Artisan Crafts Feature - Stunning Seed Beads
Hello everyone! First off I'd like to say I was super chuffed when I looked at my deviantart today because I have 5000 pageviews. Thanks everyone! My old account achieved 10,000 page views in 10 years. I didn't put much effort into it, but all the same achieving half of that in one year is incredible for me. <3 Also in a bit of an update I have my first bridal client, so I'm super excited. My lovely bride would like me to mix my hand beaded flowers with paper flowers and real flowers for a vintage style wedding. You'll be sure to see the pictures. <3
Anyway, for todays feature I decided to search out some lovely pieces in my medium of
Artisan Crafts feature
Hi everyone, I'm sorry that I have not written a feature for -months- the last one was in October! Gosh. Its been a little hectic over on my end of town. I'm still recovering from being unwell and I've sort of moved out of the place I was living in and I'm due for another move very soon. We get the keys to out new place on the 29th and will be packing things from both houses over the Christmas period. Exciting. Since I last made a post I also went to a physical artists showcase and I'd be very keen to do more of that next year! Here's a photo of my setup:
Anyway, while I cannot promise any sort of regular feature schedule its been a long tim

Thank you so much, Annalee <3 such a beautiful collection...
I really hand formed and carved Freya's "hairstyle" in metal clay ... and achieved it by forming coils and positions them, drying the metal clay and then carve every and each detail... the small balls were added the last... the piece was fired and after finished by sanding and polishing using traditional jewelry making techniques...
Much love for you,
Rodi
